Making a difference this Christmas

Christmas is a time for reflection on what has been achieved in 2015 and on want we hope to achieve in 2016.

Amid the excitement of Christmas it’s easy to forget that not everyone is celebrating. Giving our time to help those in need can be rewarding both for the recipient and the giver. Not only does it get us off the couch in order to do something positive with our time, but it can also benefit our motivation, boost our confidence and is an excellent opportunity to meet new people.

So think where you might be able to support people in your community, get out there and do something positive! You won’t regret it.

Reflecting on 2015, A2O People were pleased to be able to support a number of local charities this year including:

  • 'Elliot's Touch' to raise awareness and support organisations that are working on new cures for mitochondria disease and cardiomyopathy. We congratulate Paul and Donna in their efforts to make a difference in other families lives touched by this disease and in memory of their son Elliot”. http://www.elliotstouch.org/.
  • “Help Jessica Walk”. Helping Jessica Avery, whose cerebral palsy requires intensive long-term physiotherapy, to give her the best possible chance of moving normally under her own steam. https://www.justgiving.com/HelpJessicaWalk
  • Brainwave South West. Which impacts on the lives of over 600 children with physical, sensory, learning, cognitive and behavioural difficulties by empowering families and carers to deliver therapy to their child at home http://www.brainwave.org.uk/.

A2O People are located in the heart of the Hinkley Point community. We support local businesses by providing HR Services through a team of local associates. With the Hinkley Point C project due to commence in earnest early in 2016 we hope to be able to support the Hinkley Project team in achieving their workforce targets of 25% of employees coming from Somerset and 35% from within a 90-mile radius of the project site.

One of our aims in the year ahead is to facilitate opportunities for EDF and their supply chain company employees to become involved in community projects. Volunteering provides opportunities for businesses to engage their employees, creating alignment with the organisations purpose, positioning the company as a caring employer and putting a local face to a large corporation which build community ties.

From everyone at A2O People - We would like to say a huge thank you to all our clients and candidates for providing us with the opportunity you work with you in 2015 and to wish you a very happy Christmas and a successful 2016.
